Leadership

Introduction

Troop 584 encourages all boys to experience holding positions of responsibility in the troop to help them learn the leadership, responsibility and accountability required of holding a management-style position. Elections for Senior Patrol Leader (SPL) are held every six months. The Senior Patrol Leader is also responsible for running the troop meeting, to keep the meeting on schedule, and to accomplish the goals that are set for the meeting. The SPL can only accomplish the help of his leadership team of Assistant Senior Patrol Leaders (ASPL's) and supporting positions of responsibilities such as quartermaster,  scribe, and chaplain's aide.  Patrol Leaders also are elected every six months on the same schedule. Scoutmasters work with the Senior Patrol Leader in developing a weekly Troop program that consists of instruction with advancement, patrol meetings, and fun activities.
